justInCase, a small amount and short-term insurer in Tokyo, Japan,  offering new types of insurance services using advanced technologies, won the 1st place in the section of Resolution of Tokyo Residents’ Needs at the Tokyo Financial Award sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

 

About Tokyo Financial Award

With the aim of making Tokyo an unrivaled global financial center, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced the “Global Financial City: Tokyo” Vision in November 2017. The Vision outlines what form this city should take and concrete measures to be implemented. One of these measures is the creation of the Tokyo Financial Award, which would recognize financial companies developing and providing innovative financial instruments and services that help meet the needs of Tokyo residents, or which are working to advance ESG investments.

 

Background of this prize

 

For the “Resolution of Tokyo Residents’ Needs Category”, Tokyo residents are invited to submit any dissatisfaction they feel, or requests they have regarding the financial services in Tokyo, or services they wish. Tokyo Metropolitan Government will choose the theme to be resolved from these applications, and ask domestic and foreign financial companies offering relevant solutions to apply for.

 

From more than 16 countries, 55 companies applied, and justInCase won the 1st place in the section of “Resolution of Tokyo Residents’ Needs”. with a solution to the problem of “insurance claims filings are cumbersome.”

 

Insurance claims filing on a smart-phone app in just 90 seconds!

 

The new claims filing process justInCase proposed, is to just answer questions from a chatbot on a smartphone. Policyholders will be able to file claims in just 90 seconds, from everywhere on a smartphone, even from a hospital. We will launch the chatbot feature for one-day accident insurance within 2019.
